Celebration and Tradition

I heard that Mobile celebrated Mardi Gras, but I had no idea how much fun it was! Having the church doors open on Joe Cain Sunday was great outreach as people walked by on their way to the parades.  The time of celebration is coming to an end on this Fat Tuesday and the tradition of Lent begins with Ash Wednesday.  Talk about opposites, we go from a great big party into a time of quiet introspection.

I invite you to think about something in your life you would like to give up for good, and use the days of Lent to break a bad habit.  Or do just the opposite, think of something you would like to add to your life and use the days of Lent to form a new habit.

Whatever you do is between you and God, unless you choose to share it with others.  If you're having trouble deciding what to do just be quiet and still and listen to the Holy Spirit who will whisper to your heart.  Lent is a time of repentance, forgiveness and reconciliation.  The time to begin is now.  For those who take this journey, you will be changed.  I hope to see you along the path.
